Most people outside Spain
know Pamplona because of the bull race every July. The animal torture of
the bull race is no good PR for Pamplona, but Pamplona is well worth a
visit at other times of the year. Here is much to admire and many good
restaurants, but the hotels aren't too interesting. A good choice will be
to stay in Olite, but drive into Pamplona during the day.

This town with 5 000 inhabitants may be a good stopover when driving in
this area. If you want to stay overnight, Javier, 9 km away is a good
alternative.

This monastery, 15
km outside Sangüesa, is known for their royal burial site of former
kings of Navarra. The monastery has a good location and can be
reached when driving between Sos del Rey Católico in Aragón and Sangüesa. |

In 2006 it was 500
years since Francis Xavier
was born here. He founded the Jesuits together with Ignatius de Loyola.
The tiny village with it's 100 inhabitants and the well known castle
is located about 10 kilometres from Sangüesa and do have a very
interesting
hotel. |

Like many other Spanish
villages, the population of Ujué has declined sharply in recent years.(
Today only 200 people). The hilltop location makes a splendid view and
there is an authentic atmosphere and not too many tourists. It is also
possible to stay in Ujué or perhaps you will choose Olite, 19 km away.
