This town do have two big attractions. One of them is the Cathedral with
the sarcophagus of the famous "El Doncel". He was a noble man fighting
against the Moors when Granada was conquered in the late 15th century. But
the most interesting aspect of Sigüenza is the big castle on the top of the
town. The castle is now a marvellous Parador where you should stay a night
and get some real medieval atmosphere. (See "Accommodation" to the left). If
you are driving around in Castilla and arrive Spain at Madrid airport, you
can spend the first or last night on the trip at this Parador. (120 km away
from the airport).

Toledo
is a town you just have to visit. The location is utterly spectacular and
the town is full of history. During the medieval period, translators worked
in Toledo and translated manuscripts from the classical period (Arabic) into
Latin and made the renaissance possible. The Grand Cathedral of Toledo is
the head of the Catholic church of Spain. And if you are into Art, The
Museum of El Greco is a must.
The climate of Castilla and
the enormous popularity of Toledo among tourists, make the time for your
visit crucial. The summer is too hot and there are too many tourists. The
spring and the autumn are the best seasons for a visit. But the cold winter
is far better than the summer. And please stay over night in Toledo. The
high speed train brings you from Madrid to Toledo in just 30 minutes, but
the quiet evenings in Toledo shouldn't be missed.
