Catalonia is a popular holiday region. The city of
Barcelona has the last 15 years become one of Europe's most popular big cities
for tourists. But remember that Catalonia is one of Spain's more expensive
regions (Barcelona and the Province of Girona in particular). And try to visit
Barcelona outside the main season. Some overpriced hotels are excluded from the
list below.
1 km from Plaza de Catalunya, in a beautiful art
nouveau-building, we find a small hostel called Hostal Central Barcelona.
Nice interior. Most rooms do have a bath, all have air condition. It's
distance to the tourist trap; Las Ramblas, is just a plus.
The view and exterior are breathtaking! Pool. The
hotel which was built before the Civil War, has been restored to former glory and
offers real lux. Very expensive.
